IMO the lighting in a bedroom needs to be a combo of ceiling and lamps the ceiling light needs to be able to light up the space for cleaning so you see the dust bunnies but in my bedroom we have the lamps on a switch by the door too so those are my usual lighting in my bedroom. You can do a nice fixture for the ceiling to add a bit of your style to that or just recessed but I find recessed is a bit clinical in a bedroom

There are a lot of factors to consider in determining lighting needs for any given space. The size of the space, supply of natural light, and amount of reflective surfaces within that space are some of the most impactful contextual design elements to address. There are also many variables with the electric light source as well- the number of bulbs, type of bulbs, and wattage all contribute to lumen output. In general, however, a single light source is not typically the most effective approach to lighting any space. Layering task and accent lighting allows more control over brightness as lighting needs change throughout the day. For your space, consider a combination of overhead lighting with wall sconces or plan to incorporate accent lamps as needed.
