lighting?? dark paint..

Just repainted boys room with dark paint and white panels. I thought dark paint would be offset with white paneling but now I’m afraid it’s too dark?

We are starting a second bedroom- are panels a good idea?

Thanks!!

Could lighting help? What would you recommend ?

Is it still wet, or is it high sheen? I like dark bedrooms, personally. What do your boys think of it?

My boys did a black album cover on their bedroom wall it took up the whole wall and looked awesome only took 6 coats of paint to cover when we sold. I can say for sure but I would have chosen a matte finish for sure.

My sons room is Hale Navy and it doesn’t look too dark at all, even though it’s a north facing room. I’m sure it will look great once the furniture is in.

It will be fine once you add something to the walls - artwork, mirror, bulletin board, etc.

    I like it

    I think it looks beautiful.

I like it, as well, but like others, hope that sheen is due to wet paint and not the paint finish. If the paint finish has a sheen, I would repaint with a flat/matte finish before moving on to the next room.

I recently painted my entry hall with what was supposed to be flat finish paint. But this paint definitely has a sheen. So, I am going to have to repaint with a different brand of paint that is actually flat. I really hate to go back and repaint a newly painted wall, but this sheen has got to go.

Matte not flat is the trick jst the same color from the same apint company but in a matte finish.

Nominclature varies by brand. I often see finish charts listing no sheen as flat/matte, not just "flat" or "matte." If I purchase paint that has "Flat" printed on the can, I expect no sheen.

Break up all that blue with some wall decor.

Love the blue and white combo for a boys room. Yes matte, satin so you can still clean it. High gloss will show every imperfection on the wall.

Can;t wait to see the progress.

It was wet it has a bit of a shine now but not too bad. Thank you all for your ideas. I love the boys room pics Beth. Right now we are leaving the floor a dark wood. ( can’t afford to change it)
The bunk bed in the picture is old and staying for now. I did order new linen;)
I am thinking of putting a bean bag by/in the closet floor as a cozy corner and using an IKEA trofast storage bin by the window as a LEGO corner. To add a monkey wrench, I need to add a crib temporarily which will make the room look very crowded. I am trying to evaluate if I can put the crib somewhere else...

Ask your sons to choose artwork, school pennants , posters. maps or something they put together themselves. With your OK, hang them up....It will be a fun experience for them as well as a learning experience.

I love the dark blue and white. I think it could have been a bit lower gloss, but, I wouldnt repaint it. Put some art work for kids (let your boys choose), and on the floor put a big area rug, that will make it look a bit more homey, and bet the kids will love to play on it too.

Can you paint the bunk bed the same white as the trim?

And that reading closet is calling for a cozy chair.
