Nice space with your new kitchen. When you come in the door, is that a living room area or is that the living room where the fireplace is?

I wouldn't do something as permanent as a built-in in that space. What is that area anyways, a dining room, sitting area??

I think I would approach your needs in 3 different ways instead of one catch all. For example, get a small console table for the entry wall with art or mirror over. The console can be the catch all for keys and mail. I would put large decorative baskets underneath the console for shoes. I would then do a few decorative hooks for either next to the console or around the corner. This can hold your purse and a few coats.

For the space under the window I would get two accent chairs and a small table...unless this space is used for something different (dining, etc.).

As far as the space - it’s a bit awkward because you open my front door and there is a huge open space (my island is to the left). Straight ahead will be my dining table and the fireplace area has always been my family room. I’m assuming it will still be even with the wall down.
My tv is over the fireplace.

There is too much open space when you walk In my home but that’s why I need to do something at the entry - love the console table and something else under the window. I’m going to take these ideas and run with it

You could also provide a little structure to the entryway by building in a bench or storage across from the front door, adjacent to the hallway opening something like this only with storage underneath and maybe hooks along the side wall:

You nailed the layout! There is a ton of empty space where you have the table and chairs. I just feel it might be a little formal for my style. Unless you have an idea that is modern. I think I’m a cross of farmhouse, transitional, coastal..... I want to be informal and inviting as I have young kids and want to still create a casual vibe.

I like the idea but I just took down walls to create an open concept so I feel this closes it up again. I really appreciate the advice though and would love other ideas.
