can you specify which v? .. the annual or perennial version?

what fert did you add to the heavily amended soil ...could the amendments PLUS the fert have made a difference ...

how old when planted ... how big.. total babes ... or well grown older specimens???

Hi, Ken....This is a perennial. I planted a young one about 4-5 inches across, and it spread to over a foot. I actually added no fertilizer at all, come to think of it. Do you mean "babies"? Several new plants came out of it, but all are clumped together to look like one large plant. I don't know what else to tell you; I'm wondering if I SHOULD add fertilizer next year....

Maybe you planted too late? I would def. give it more time.

by babes ... i was trying to figure out how big the plant was ... that you planted ... like a 3 month old seedling.. versus a year old one gal pot .... with perennials ... obviously... one plant in the example is a year older than the other ...

you also said.. your soil was heavily amended ... and i was wondering if you had done that just before planting.. and if you used manure ... which would be heavy in urea.. fert .. so even though you didnt double up with more fert... perhaps you over nitro'd them ... too much nitro .. just like on the lawn.. favors a lot of green vegetative growth.. and sometimes.. to the detriment of flowering .. if over done ...

if you just meant organics .. then that is probably not an issue ...

with any perennial ... i would give them at least 2 seasons ... before i would start thinking about banishment ...
