Not an unusual configuration. Friends built a house in the 1980s with that configuration ... toploader pair in an alcove in the master bath, and another set in the main laundry room behind the kitchen.

I have w/d in master bath. Love the ease of laundry duties with this set up. No hauling dirty clothes. They are all in the hamper in the bathroom. Bedrooms are 'right there' making putting clean laundry away easy too. We had front load stackers for years in there, now we have side by side top load washer. and dryer. Some people frown on this set up thinking it's too moist in there, which it can be, but a ceiling exhaust fan does its job well in this bathroom. It's all good for us.

To add, if you were wanting to go all out and do a big renovation with wow-factor, houzz members, enduring and scottie's mom have impressive inspiration photos on this site for their laundry renovations in their master bathrooms. I think you can search their usernames and skim through to find their renos. There are others as well, but these two are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Mine is rather utilitarian since I re-did my alcove for the w/d to accommodate side by sides. I used to have it with cabinets and such with bi-fold doors and all that. Now I have a curtain and shelves which removed much of the decor allure, but I'm still pleased as the bathroom is aging anyways and who would notice at this point :)

here is my layout. The upper left blue is my Miele stacked set. The gray square next to it is a set of floor to ceiling cabinets with a false back to access the shut off valve, dryer vent, and power. The shutoff valve is in the wall between the laundry area and the shower to the right. The floor to ceiling cabinet wraps over the stacked set. The area is too small to ever house a full sized set, so the space is only usable for Euro sized sets. I love my Miele. The remodel is from 2013 and I still love the space. Its 8' from top to bottom in plan view and almost 10' from door to door. I made it somewhat handicapped accessible. This room never gets damp. I do notice extra dust, probable due to dryer, but my house if very old and leaky. Dust is very minimal, just something I've noticed when cleaning the room:
