haha tree is in other room. looking for something to fill the space year round. chair? sofa table? plant?

The room lacks color, pattern, texture. First purchase a large area rug with color and pattern and then get some throw pillows for the sofa with colors from the rug--also an interesting coffee table.

Perhaps a writing desk, lamp and chair with a piece of art above it....and add a large throw rug or coffee table

The Tv should have been on the wall beside the window with a nice Besta TV stand the sectional turned to face the TV and the FP Do that then come back.

It appears that the room needs tables with lamps, art on the walls, and curtains at the window. Those elements will give the room a warm, finished look.

If you are open to moving the furniture, I agree with the placement suggested by Patricia. If you like the current layout, here's what I'd do to finish the room. I would pull the sofa away from the solid wall (with the entrance). Place a sofa table behind it with two lamps, and hang a large piece of art above the table. Then, on the side of the sofa (near the corner) place a side table with a complementary lamp. Add a large rug, some pillows, and round coffee table and you are set.

Whatever you do, just remember no one puts baby in the corner.

You could use some color in your room and I think that the idea of pulling the sofa away from the wall is worth considering.

But, what is wrong with open space? Why fill up the floor space with anything?

You could use more visual interest with something interesting on the walls and add some floor lamps just to add some light texture and depth. Overhead lights are always harsh and ugly, no matter that they are recessed.

This looks like it might be in a walk out basement because there is only one window there and it looks as if it just ended up there after the basement was sectioned off into rooms. That is a really awkward window placement. If it were above grade it would probably have more windows that are more balanced in placement. The wall looks like a one eyed wall, or an incomplete drawing of a room. Adding something bright and shining in the other corner would correct that imbalance to some degree. Pulling the sofa away from the one window would also open it up a bit. You have only one window. Don't block it in any way.

It is dark and that is another good reason to add some light texture to warm it up and give it some dimension.

I like the color of the walls. It is so neutral and clean looking.

You need light from other than harsh overhead. it does not look inviting or warm. Those overheads might be fine if it were a playroom for kids, but not as a place where you want to be otherwise.

A dog kennel furniture piece seems like the obvious choice

I would put some plant there,or even better side table with nice lamp.

I agree with the suggestion to move the TV to the end wall left of the window or to the right side of the fireplace & rearrange the furniture. The television is trying to dominate the fireplace and succeeding. I would much rather see a mirror or some artwork over the FP.

TV look's great right where it is. The sectional would dominate the room if you follow these suggestions. An area rug over carpet is not a good look either. Bahahahaha
