I'll add that this is a somewhat deliberate attempt that people should Not Have a shared impression, that the experience of the garden is unique to the individual.

I'm not sure I'm seeing gazing balls.........if so, either really good sized tree trunks or pretty tiny balls :-) Might they not be just Christmas ornaments topping a couple of sticks?
