Book shelves around a console

Hello, I have a console table that looks somewhat like the picture here, but without the drawers. I have this 10' long wall in the guest bedroom where I would like to place it and then have bookshelves on either side and above it. I need some ideas to visualize and design this. I am looking at custom made shelves, not more than 8-9" wide and the arrangement I am looking at is something like the attached sketch (a terrible one!). Would appreciate ideas... Thank you :)

Personally, I'd forget the console and just put in bookcases, perhaps with a lower one in the middle for the guest to use for keys and phones. I just can't envisage that console surrounded by bookcases.

IMO your solution is too contrived.

Determine what your goal is for this room and the space. Is it to store books? What is the purpose of the console then? Does the room house a bed for guests?

If you don't have a vast collection of books, don't build bookcases you have to fill.

Thank you for your comments. The room does have twin beds. There is no other place in the house to keep the console. I have about 400-500 books that need to be stored too, and no other place to keep them. I like the photos you have included in your post, and will see how I could use these ideas. Thanks a lot!

Is there no room for the console in a hallway or foyer? Don't discount selling it off if it no longer has a purpose in your home.

IMO who needs all those shelves in a guest room IMO it is perfect just as is put a piece of art above it and be done. A good spot for a vase full of fresh flowers add a little metal bowl for keys .

Thank you for your opinions that got me thinking. I have decided to use the console like a bedside table and will now put in only the shelves in that wall.
