I wouldn't put one thing on the shelf, but might consider painting the shelf a glossy black.

I like the walnut tone wood in the space it adds warmth but I agree nothing is needed it has a beautiful clean look now. Maybe a simple blown glass bowl or try if you feel the need to add something.

I'd remove everything on it, and leave it blank. It is a design element that stands on its own. Keep the shelf walnut.

I wouldn't call your lamps "goofy", but don't think they complement this pretty area and agree that they should be removed. I would also not place anything on the shelf, but let the beautiful marble slab be the artwork and take center stage. Anything you add there may actually detract from the clean, sophisticated look you have going on now.

HI -- That wall is amazing and beautiful and the marble is the Art . I wouldn't do too much there . All it needs is a very long simple sculpture such as a reclining Asian piece , if that is an interest for you . Even just an interesting driftwood log or a white birch one . I don't think you need the side pieces . Just keep it very simple and clean looking and leave it the way it is . Someday you will find the perfect items for the sides if need be . yes, the lamps are horrible for the space, they were a last minute design choice and have been a complete eyesore for me. However, I do like the symmetry of them

I would add 2 blown-glass artisan tall vases or sculpture at one side and a single larger piece at the other side. All that lighting and the shelf calls for something like sculpture or 3–dimensional , and artistic. It’s an entry and also where guests linger when saying goodbye so you want something that‘s personal and interesting.

It looks empty because it is too much cold marble between the wall and the floors. I would leave the shelf empty, but put a beautiful runner on the floor in front of the alcove. Or two tall potted plants on the floor on each end. Anything to add life or softness to the space.

NONONO.
