The day after Christmas...

We will be celebrating Christmas with our family today. Yesterday (Christmas) we stayed home except for a when we went to DD's to see what Santa brought the girls. Everyone will be coming here today. DS's family will stay overnight and tomorrow he and his wife will go see a movie ( a gift from his sister) while we watch the kids. DD is coming to help with the children.

DH gave me some nice quilting items. Can't wait to get back to my sewing room to play with them. Did you get quilting gifts?

It was a very quiet day yesterday, company will come Sat. So I spent some time at the machine. The Merry Mayhem New Year's Day mystery got started. My sister and I will do it this year. First clue, fabric and cutting directions were out earlier in the month and step two came out yesterday. It looks like it will be just 3” inch squares and HSTs, but I am sure the placement will create something nice. So today will be HST day.

I'm working today. :( Yesterday was the first Christmas ever that DH & I didn't have plans. I cooked a turkey roast and we just had a quiet day at home. I worked on two sewing projects.

Tomorrow night we're having dinner with DH's sister and husband and daughter.

We celebrated Christmas Eve with 15 other family members including new-born baby Zeke. Yesterday was the 39th annual Christmas movie. We started this tradition in 1981. Today we left for Palm Desert, CA, and are currently tucked into our hotel room in Olathe, KS, for the night. We’re taking it easy, driving only about 6-7 hours per day. That’s enough for us old retirees. Elk City, OK, tomorrow night.

Sounds pretty low key for everyone except you, Lois. Big gathering that was! Safe travels to you. My Christmas day was very quiet with hubby, son and his girlfriend. My daughter is in Chicago with my sister who could not come to my home for Christmas. My daughter traveled to her so that she would not be alone for the holiday...heart of gold that girl of mine has. I did miss her terribly, but glad they were together.

We are spending time in Arizona with our families (staying at my mom's and my MIL lives 2 houses away). We had brunch with MIL, SIL, Mom & DH. Then my brother stopped by between locations - he works security and was covering shifts for guys with families so they could be with their little ones. After he left, my sister, BIL, nephew & his girlfriend and her boys, MIL & SIL came for dinner and gift exchange. Full house. Our son, DIL & Granddaughter come on Sunday so we will do it all over again! It's a busy time, but we love spending it with our family. After our son & his family go back to Colorado on the 3rd, I will get some quilting time since mom is also a quilter!
