Kenneth, your garden is beautiful and hope to see more photos once spring starts. When I ordered Tangerine Flames, I thought it was a full sized rose. I love the apricot/orange shades and had to have it. Finding out it was a miniflora, I have decided to pot it in a very large pot and let it climb up a pillar in my garden shed/cottage area. I just ordered the mini Cl. Work of Art from Burlington - a hard to find one - and plan to use them both in that area. Being viewed up close, with annuals at its feet should be lovely - your photos are indeed better than JP's - cant wait to see it.

"fall asleep standing up!".... that's hilarious and so true. Usually when I "casually" bring them up in a converstion people talk right over it. However, most of my hobbies are met with that look. I sometimes wonder what most people do... maybe they don't have passions outside of work and family. I suppose it's sports for many, but usually as spectators. Oh well! We have each other!

Oh trust me I cannot wait to share with you my garden with all 198 roses . Im and addict I have climbers all over idk what is about climbers that I love so much . I have about 25 climbers and got the nerve to want more .

I know what you mean about climbers. I have ~40 and ordered Paul Jerabek for next Fall. I don't even have a structure for some.... just planning ahead as they can take a while to get going. Kenneth, your climbers put mine to shame. They are so beautiful.

Burling just emailed me and my roses are being shipped! We are having a mild winter so far but I have a greenhouse I can put the small plants in if needed. I will report on Cl. Work of Art. I grew it years ago and it is a mini climber with lovely apricot/orange blooms. For whatever reason, it became hard to find - Burling is the only one who apparently grows it - there may be someone else but it was sold out, so am excited to get it.

I apologize for changing topics, but I have just been struggling with a sprayer which is brand new and cannot get the thing to work. Its a Flo Master - called the company, they said lubricate the O rings......I have pressure inside but spray barely comes out. Am using Mancozeb which is diluted and like water in the tank. I asked this question on the rose forum but while there is activity on this thread, I would really like to know what kind of sprayer you all use. I have had the best luck with hand sprayers but they wear out quickly. Very frustrating to get started on a project [spraying all my roses today with 70 degree weather] and the sprayer wont work. Maybe I just need to shell out and buy an expensive one.......but would sure appreciate knowing what you all use. Thanks!!

I also have an old quart sprayer for my small rooted cuttings and it give a fabulous mist. I'll try and take a pic, but am not sure on its availability. I like the small one when I'm just doing a few. When I'm doing all my roses in the spring, I use a back pack sprayer. I've used battery-operated, but they always seemed to break. Some folks have ones on wheels which look interesting.

I hope I don't come across Scrooge like, but think long and hard about adding new mini roses like Tangerine Flames. At one time, in the recent past, the color change the bloom goes through was considered a serious fault.

Also, miniature roses, as a class, are among the most black spot and spider mite prone roses there are. So if you garden in the humid, dry spell, hot East, be prepared to deal with severe defoliation from disease and mites. A spray regeme is almost a certainty.

There are numerous small flowered roses not classed specifically as miniature roses, like the Drifts, that have bred in black spot resistance that are a joy to grow.

Thanks for posting this. No where on the J&P website description does it say it is a mini! (i love mini climbers, so that's a plus for me). I just checked my catalog and it does say it there.

Interested to know how your Tangerine Flame rose is growing now. I also have one (planted last spring) and it remained quite petite like I expected...and then all of a sudden, I have 3 HUGE canes growing out of it like rockets straight up to the sky. At first I thought they might be suckered but they are generating the little tangerine roses, so I'm assuming they are basal canes. I've tried looking up more info on the J&P website but they've removed the rose completely from their website.

According to JMP blurbs up above and the comments on this post, I think it is a climber with small flowers.

Unfortunately I lost mine in the heat of last summer. Now......its not listed. What a shame, I was really looking forward to this one. Hope they will list it again.

I have 2 of them and adore them! Gorgeous photo! It has huge thick canes, such healthy leaves and the most divine colored blooms! I got a rose years ago, an apricot climber from J&P - Heavenly Dawn. They sold it for 2 yrs. I got 2, lost one. I babied it in a pot and planted it 2 years ago......its very healthy and I love it. But they never offered it again, can find no information about it - just disappeared. Guess Tangerine Flames will do the same, unfortunately. Like No Other, offered last year, didnt show up on the list this year. I lost that one too during Snowmageddon in February. Cant understand why they just get rid of roses that grow well.......never to be heard from again.
