Thanks for the links to these videos Whirlpool! The smart features of the washer are a little different than I thought as it doesn't pick the cycle but instead determines how soft/hard the fabrics are and then adjusts the wash pattern. One thing I love are the gorgeous new stainless wash baffles.

They should be fun to use or fix when the "smart" stuff stops working. Enjoy your gorgeous baffles.

I have an agitator toploader does that. Press Power, select the soil level "How Dirty?" and press Start ... machine does the rest running a default Warm wash (there's a myriad of other options) and adjusts the agitation speed per the sensed fabric mix. There are a few special cycles preset with a specific agitation action, otherwise there's no way to select the agitation speed. It does change slightly within the detected fabric mix if the soil level is increased or decreased.
