I have purchased a condo in which the main bathroom needs some help. It has a toilet facing the door, a vanity that is much too tall and too short (it leaves space by the toilet, and slate tile which continues through the whole condo.

How do I de-emphasize that toilet? What sort of vanity would work? I do not like the trough sink at all!

The kitchen has light wood cupboard, probably alder, that I like.
