installing washer and dryer using bathtub plumbing

We want to move a stacked washer & dryer to the upstairs closet in the bathroom. Is it reasonable to build a pony wall in front of this opening in order to tap into the existing plumbing? Trying to avoid running everything around the corner just to have it behind the machine. We have more room on the sides than front to back. This way I could tap into the drain directly below the floor
