Reviews on Emerstone quartz? Durability, staining, chipping, etc?

We are considering Emerstone quartz for our kitchen remodel. Particularly Borghini Gold color. This is one of the few stones that has the light brown/gold color veining vs grey. It's a huge, expensive job. I need 4 slabs between kitchen, full backsplash, and bar. I want to ensure I choose a quality product. Any experience or advice would be much appreciated!

The concept of a product that strips debris from a surface while at the same time depositing protectant on the surface seems counterintuitive, no? If your quartz comes in regular contact with unfiltered sunlight, it can yellow over time regardless of any attempted preventant, but most home windows filter the majority of UV already. Quartz does not need sealing like natural stone does. I personally would need to see a more convincing argument to spend money on a special quartz treatment product than the basic description offers above; no offense intended, just trying to save you money.

I should have spoken to you before I bought it🙃. Thanks for your input! This wasn’t a cheap purchase and I was trying to protect my investment as much as possible. I’m sure the manufacturers of the spray know this too and are banking on people being nervous.

There are definitely valid and necessary sealants and protectants for certain types of. natural stone that are very expensive. Quartz, however, is largely resin, and any natural stone fragments in the quartz are coated by resin. The best thing you can do to protect your quartz investment is to keep heat away from it. Always use substantial trivets for hot items, and keep your hottest items in the stove or on the range until they cool. I have even seen quartz damaged by hot pots coming out of the dry cycle of the dishwasher. Being aware of heat is the single most important investment in preserving your quartz. Also, stay away from harsh or gritty surfactants.

BEWARE...We were considering Emerstone Borghini Gold Quartz for our Kitchen countertops. But after several phone calls direct to Emerstone, Lakewood, NJ, they told me it's made in INDIA. Many write on web to not trust Chinese or Indian Quartz, One exception is if it's made using the original Breton technology to produce QUARTZ slabs. For India that's seems to be only QUANTRA QUARTZ. A QUANTRA rep wrote on an email: "We don't produce anything for Emerstone" . I think Emerstone is just an importer. BTW, we are now thinking about getting Spectrum "impeccable" quartz or expensive Silestone "Ehtereal Glow" Quartz.

You should look at Cambria. It is made in the USA with Breton technology. The lowest-price supplier is ProSource.

Thanks. Well, we've sort of settled on a quartz with both gold & silver/gray veining. So we think either SPECTRUM "IMPECCABLE"(USA)or expensive SILESTONE "ETHEREAL GLOW"(Spain).

@moltwi I love ours. I would 100% buy again. misty waves is great. no weird undertones. creamy white but goes with our super white cabinets and subway tile. Still need to paint soffit and walls but getting there…

@londonjess Did you get the Borghini Gold, does the veining appear brown? I was set on the gold and now second guessing as I do not want brown tones.

@Jaclyn What quartz did you install on the counters?

    @weissr76 emerstone misty waves

@Mme Laprof I am in the process of ordering Borghini Gold but second guessing my decision. Do you think the veining looks more brown than gold?

    @weissr76 hi!

Yes, I would say it looks more brown than gold. There is also a slight outline of gray. Still love it.

@Mme Laprof Thank you. I was set on it and now I am afraid of it looking too brown. Knowing it has some gray does help though.

@Heather Colyer Did you install the Emerstone Borghini Lincoln quartz? I am thinking of pulling the trigger on this one this week. Would you mind sharing if you are pleased with it and also a photo or two? It's nice to see that most people are happy with Ermerstone as well.

I think I am going to pull the trigger on Emerstone Monet, I just switched from Borghini Gold. Anyone have pictures of Emerstone Monet?

Here is my Emerstone Borghini Silver which I am obsessed with! I would swear it was marble if I didn’t know better. It’s even cool to the touch. It’s not super shiny or cheap looking, just gorgeous. No regrets.

@mguevaradesign here are photos of our Borgnine Lincoln from Emerstone. We love it with our gray cabinets!

I installed emerstone borgini gold and love it however shortly after install hot items damaged areas leaving discoloration so previous posters warning about heat damage are correct

Its so faint its hard to see unless you are looking for it. countertop install folks looked and said to sand it out would make it worse…. barkeepers friend didnt help

@Heather Colyer Thank you for posting those wonderful photos. Your Emerstone Borghini Lincoln looks really beautiful! It is so helpful for me to see it. Thank you!!! Our cabinets are a gray-taupey stained color.

@dms715 did you end up with the Emerstone Calacata Oceana?

@nmariers24 no, I did not. When I went to go see the slab in person I did not like the way it looked. I ended up with Pental Quartz - Volakano; which I love.

Jasmin Scott your countertops look beautiful! I am about to pull the trigger on the Borghini Silver for my kitchen. Do you have any more photos? How is it holding up!

For anyone who hasn't availed themselves of the entirety of this thread, note that the original poster has problems cleaning the Emerstone Borghini Gold that should not occur with quality quartz. A cautious shopper would spread a wider net and continue searching if you want to save yourself from the following scenario as noted previously by the original poster: "I find anything metal actually can leave a scrape that comes off with barkeepers friend and the green rough side of a scotch brite sponge. Small elbow grease nothing requiring a major scrub, but doesn’t come off with just soap and water. But beware of aluminum or similar type things rubbing along the surface. That’s my only learning and negative so far."

Quality quartz should be easy to clean. Metal of any type should not leave marks that routinely require abrasives and "elbow grease," however light, to remove. This experience occurred beginning at the point of installation for the original poster with Emerstone Borghini Gold. Look at other reviews @Kelly R for competing companies to note the differences in quality and performance.

Kelly R, I still love mine. I do have to use barkeepers friend if anything with red dye touches it. It doesn’t even need to be deep red, fruit punch or Gatorade will leave a stain that I have to use a gentle cleanser on. I don’t mind because if it was real marble I’d probably be stuck with a permanent stain. My daughter is a teen so I don’t have little children with ice pops constantly dripping colored water on them.

Jasmin Scott Thank you! Looks beautiful.

And I definitely use a trivet for hot stuff.

Does anyone know if Emerstone is of similar quality to MSI? I don't see a lot of information online about Emerstone. Wondering where they do their manufacturing. Thanks!

@weissr76 did you end up with Monet? If so, are you very happy with it? Any issues? Thanks

Does anyone have pictures of the backsplash you chose for the Borghini gold?

Does anyone have Emerson Monet? If so, please post picture. I’m in the process of switching from my dated granite to white with gray veining countertop. It would help to see how it would look before I buy!

My mother installed Borghini Gold and it’s GORGE

@Ellie Tedeschi Did you by chance take time to read this entire thread? I would encourage you to do so if you haven't, as you may be missing out on some technical considerations concerning Emerstone. Your countertops are not something you can change out easily, so it pays to look for quality.

For those with Emerstone counters—how have they held up over time? Do you have any regrets? I’m considering Emerstone Genisis for my kitchen. Thank you.

We installed the Emerson Azure Quartz in our kitchen and Mont Blanc in our baths in May 2018. Both have held up very well. Like every other countertop surface and brand, it pays to take care of it. Don’t bang it with heavy objects. Wipe it after use. We wash with dawn and water and/or stone cleaner. Once a year, I wipe it with a bit of stone polish. If it does get scratched, stained or smudged, you just need to very lightly buff the spot with bon ami or barkeepers friend. You can smooth out scratches with a gray scotch brite pad - lightly polish the raw spot afterward.

I installed Emerstone in 2018 Azure - todays no issues. Easy to maintain Dawn and water. No chips or scratches. Would buy again

For those late to this thread, consumers of Emerstone quartz products commenting here have more than once mentioned being thrilled with aesthetics and sometimes also happy with "only" needing to regularly address scratching and staining with elbow grease, abrasive cleaners, and care in keeping pots and pans from moving across the surface. Note that abrasive cleaning, whether light or heavy, can create a mismatched sheen across a quartz surface. Quartz should only require soft clothing cleaning as it has a high content of polyester resin. Cleaners made exclusively for natural stone may not be appropriate due to the high resin content of quartz. Any quartz can be severely damaged by high heat, but a better quartz product should tolerate normal usage with extraordinary resistance to impacts, scratches, stains, and acids.

BretonStone technology continues to be a leader in quartz production technology. Someone who wants an easy-care surface should definitely keep brands like Cambria, Ceasarstone, and Silestone that use it at the top of the list to research.

Furthermore, news I have seen as recently as 2023 is referencing trends shifting away from quartz countertops in countries outside the USA to more heat-durable surfaces, and it wouldn't surprise me if that trend eventually comes to the USA as well.

There is nothing to ’overlook’ regarding Emerstone Quartz. The product is amazing. I worked as the Controller there for years. I also own the product in my own home. You cannot go wrong with a great and consistent product and company! PS. I am no longer the controller as I have nothing personal to gain on my review …

The poster's circumstances are irrelevant to their argument. It's all essentially the same stuff anyway; the brands are irrelevant as well.

"The best quartz is made with a patented technology called 'Bretonstone,' from Breton S.p.A, in Italy. Bretonstone slabs have a high stone content . . . and are manufactured in a process called 'vibro-compression under vacuum,' in which the heated mix is vibrated and compacted until it’s super-hard, super-stable, and super-resistant to scratches, chips, and stains. Many big-name brands, as well as some smaller ones, rely on this technology." This comment is 100% for those looking for feedback from ACTUAL customers. I installed Borghini Silver 10 months ago, and I couldn’t be happier! Not only is it beautiful, stains clean up with just water.

Perhaps we need an article about "All Emerstone is Not Equal?" Everyone seems to love the look of it. Some people have early chipping. Some people must treat stains with paste, powder, and/or abrasive pads, while others have Emerstone that cleans easily with only water. Some people get marks and stains from metal touching the surface or mild liquids like Gatorade while others do not. This all makes me wonder if something has improved with manufacturing lately for the newer owners. The totality of reviews seems a lot to process given the wide spread.

Just had Emerstone Essence installed. I did know about the heat issue, but was not aware of chipping or issues from metal pans. This thread is making me nervous. We will see, time will tell.

Hi, I’m doing Emerstone Essence? How do you like so far?

  • last year

We just did emerstone essence. looks nice. scuff marks result from any contact with mixing bowls, pans, cooling racks…they are super hard to remove and some are permanent black marks. this product scratches super easy we are gentle and careful and new scratches keep popping up. emerstone people will not help, you will need to go thru fabricator so make sure you have a good one. Honestly this product is a joke i would run away and get a good granite. we never had any issue with our cheap 20 year old granite tile countertops and regret ever changing to quartz. junk junk junk.

Has anyone had any experience with Emerstone Tahitian Sky? Having read all the comments concerning the durability of Emerstone productsare making me reluctant to purchase Emerstone products, but having found anything more recent than 2024.
