Andersen 100's were sounding ok to me until you mentioned the Weathershield Hinged Door. That being said if I HAD to choose one of the 2 packages you mention it would be Milgard.

Thermally broken aluminum is well proven in Southern and predominantly cooling dominated climates.

California Title 24 does not like thermally broken aluminum. With aluminum, we barely passed Title 24 requirements by 1%. We had to tweak so many other parts of the house to gain the energy efficiency to pass.

I'm not familiar with California's requirements, although I can't imagine too many places that practically speaking are more friendly to a window in terms of being subject to brutality from the elements. The Andersen 100 should do nicely, although like MWM I don' t know that the Weathershield door would be my first choice. Milgard makes nice products as well.

We went with the Milgard thermally broken/improved dark inside/out and like them. I can't speak on the door choice since we went with something other than Milgard.

Southern California, Arizona, lower Nevada, etc. are great climates for thermally improved aluminum. Like @HomeSealed Exteriors, LLC said, the Andersen 100 should do fine as well.

Tell me about it. We had to pretty much over spec everything else to get the aluminum to pass. For example, I really did not want a bright white cool roof, but we had no choice.

I am not too surprised, but there is no love for Sierra Pacific Aspen?

Bonus question, we have four clerestory windows over a four panel slider. In the plan, these are four equal sized windows.

Vendor told me the clerestory windows may not line up with the door panels when the slider is closed. Would it look strange if I went with three equal sized windows instead? That way, they are not suppose to line up anyway.
