Do you prefer neutral colors or are you open to using bolder colors?

How about a white or antique white for the trim and then a deep red or berry color on the shutters? It would be a beautiful pop of color and would add some character.

If you're open to bolder colors and a bit of whimsy, I think two shades of purple (or even do a yellow window, purple shutters). Or, pink and berry colors. These colors would look good with your siding and your front door in purple, or raspberry, etc would be exciting. Hey, it's just paint. If you tire of the colors, white windows and black shutters/black front door would be classic and pretty as well.

Black/white shutters and windows. I'd do the front door black.

I like the red or berry color for the shutters. The black shutters may not compliment the dark brown color of the cedar shingles. Purple and yellow? Hmmmm

Darzy is the color of that window and door frame berry? It will compliment the shingles. I can paint the shutters in this color. What about the window frame or vice versa?

I love the idea of doing black and white with the brown siding. It will turn a more traditional home into something a little cleaner and sleeker!

The purple yellow combo is really a muted yellow. The first photo above with the two shades of purple has a yellow house color behind the purple. See! It looks really nice together. :)

You might not want to go too dark on either the shutters or trim, especially with the shingles' dark stain. A contrasting color (like white or a vivid color) would probably work best if you're wanting to create curb appeal.

Purple and yellow could be fun (I would use it), but its a very modern look and not for everyone.

Farror & Ball have beautiful whites - Wimborne White is a very soft creme - not as yellow as BM linen white.
Another stunning look if you are going to paint your shingles is charcoal grey on shingles, white on trim and robins egg blue door. Spot light the door at night and it is gorgeous.

The black and white against a dark siding does not jump out at me.

Are you going to paint the foundation too?

Yes but not at the moment.

No I wasn't implying that you use black and white with your brown shingles. That is only if you were going to paint. I think a creme color would look great and lighten everything up. Good luck

Hi jelaani...the architects were asked what color that berry color was but was not answered. I think just trying a few berry colors testing is your best bet anyway. If you're a bit worried about opposing colors, you could just do the window frames a few shades lighter than the shutter's berry color. Organize with Design's ideas and B.L. Rieke has good ideas and points as well.

I'm leaning to the yellow/purple and the two shades of purple. What about the door frame do I use the same color scheme?

If you don't have photoshop, take a picture of your house then import to Microsoft Paint (you probably have that on your computer). Then, you can draw rectangles of your color options and play around with the combinations on the shutters/windows and door/door frame. Show us the after picture. BTW..be sure the two colors have the same hue and will also complement the siding color.
