Because of their volume, Home Depot negotiates lower prices from Silestone; they will always be the lowest price. A local non-HD fabricator simply can't buy material as cheaply as the HD fabricator gets it.

Did you complete this job with HD? I just received a great bid from them (running a 20% discount) and would like to give it a green light. The Tebas Black quartz is actually less $ than Absolute Black granite. I shopped around for several bids and HD is about $1000 less than my best price. Is this too good to be true? I have 3 areas to cover: u-shape, L-shape, and a 60” rectangle.

It is not too good to be true. The big boxes have unbelievable buying clout and pass these savings on to customers.

Not Silestone, but a handful of years ago I had a granite countertop put in in my downstairs bar area through Home Depot. Small job, but came out beautifully, no complaints whatsoever.

Keep in mind HD farms out installation to the lowest bidder. That doesn’t necessarily mean they will do a bad job, but I question the quality of any contractor that relies on low price high volume work by submitting a low bid to HD compared to a contractor who is able to build a business through a good reputation and referrals.

I agree. I want good references for the people who will template and install my counter.

You don’t get that with HD.

Then, if there is an issue, good luck in having it resolved quickly if at all.
