Orange Floor Stain-help!

Does anyone know what this stain is from or how to get rid of it? We have well water, but have a softener. We were told it was the wax ring, had that replaced and it happened again almost immediately. We have power flush toilets-is that a potential cause? Is it overspray from the flush? Leaking under the floor? I’m afraid we probably can’t get it off the floor now, but do we have to live with it forever? How do we prevent it in the future if we replace the flooring? Vinyl flooring also stains from underneath the vinyl. Subfloor contamination appears and can’t be cleaned because it’s under the vinyl layer. More info is needed here.

That’s what it looks like, but we don’t have issues with rust stains anywhere else in the house. Not on the tubs, sinks, etc. So if it’s rust, why is it just there and how do we get rid of it or prevent it from happening?

It’s sheet vinyl. Have it several other places including in another bathroom and it shows no wear there.

Maybe toilet cleaner or floor cleaner is causing the discoloration?

It looks like it is only to the left of the toilet. It could be a small leak from the shutoff valve. Take a Kleenex and place it under the valve. Check the Kleenex in a few hour and in 24 hours to see if it is wet.

Sheet vinyl can change colour (nicotine coloured stain) when exposed to one of it's 'no-no' enemies. Rubber and rubberized items are the BIGGEST no-no. Like a rubber backed bath mat. Heat (from a radiator, etc) can cause discolouration. And direct sunlight can cause discolouration. But once those things occur, then NEVER come out. Ever.

You mention "We were told it was the wax ring, had that replaced and it happened again almost immediately." Does that mean it CLEANS UP? Can you clean away the stain?

Have you ever or do you currently store a plunger or toilet bowl cleaning brush in that spot?
