You can have a black stainless steel sink if you get a TopZero. I'd buy the grate for the bottom and be very careful.

I contacted KitchenAid to see if this could (please, please) be repaired. Here was their one-line response:

We are very sorry, we do not have any recommendations for taking scratches out of black stainless steel.

It’s a terrible, temporary, option. ”Suites” are terrible things too. Buy nest in class that does the job. In stainless.

Bisque was around for almost 40 years, not the same as the avocado & harvest gold. Makers better get on the stick, some of us hate SS with a passion. WTF wants a SS appliance with black or gray sides. They do it to make money. White, black & bisque are the way to go. You'd have thought SS would have gone by now, LOL, but they just keep making them cheaper looking. My Saturday rant at this crap. Have a great day.

Thanks for your comments. So far it's been negative towards the black stainless except for the recommendation in getting a black stainless sink.. Anyone in favor for it? Have black stainless and like them?

IMO buying matching appliances from one maker is never a good plan and plain old stainless has stood the test of time and you get to choose appliances that work for how you want them too they all match no matter what maker. In Florida the last thing I would do is black appliances and I sure would not do a black stainless sink ever.

Black fixtures are high maintenance as they are hard to keep pristine looking. A better choice is something with a natural mottling or where a patina looks intentional, i.e. soapstone.

We are very happy with our black stainless. We went with Bosch, except for fridge as Bosch fridges didn't have features we wanted: went with Whirlpool. Black stainless finishes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. The Whirlpool and Bosch match quite well. We don't have kids at home so if it scratches it's our fault. I like how the dark color works in our kitchen. Black wouldn't.

Just be aware - black stainless is regular stainless with a very thin plastic film on it to make it "black". Once you scratch that film, there is nothing you can do to repair the look. And that plastic film will scratch easily.

It's also a trend, and just like avocado and harvest gold will likely go out of style. Regular stainless will not.
