Do you mean a curtain rod? Also, doesn't look like a bay, at least not from the pic.

It's basically like this, if this is more clear (if slightly exasperated). Just had the survey back - that described it as a bay window.

Rod/pole - same thing - might be where we're from (my local Ikea says pole)

Well, you already have curtain rod. You can spray paint it, if you don't like the color. You can often change out the finial as well, and spray paint to match.

Does the angled side have a window separate from the flat portion? I can't imagine the glass actually bends like that to make one full window. You can treat them separately, rod-wise.

You buy a long rod n shorter snd use a connector that adjusts to your angle. This is the brand rods connector I used. I have 3 bay window in my home all diff and this adjusted angle for each.

There isn't a poll/rod there currently, it's a curtain track, which is just cheap plastic and looks incredibly dated. So not something I want in my nice new house.

Can you post a picture of the window with the current coverings open? It’s hard to understand the “bay” part without seeing it. (I looked for your poll, couldn’t find it on this site.)

I don't think you should be taking the mick out of people's spelling online, you don't know if they have a learning disability or not. In my case, I do. It's words like that I struggle with - words that sound the same, but aren't spelt the same, like carrot vs carat (that was one I did last week).

Get a corner connector piece and then the appropriately sized rods for the two different lengths of window space (a long one for the longest side, and a short one for the part after the connector). :)

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound condescending. In my experience you're more likely to be successful in searching for something using the correct term. I originally thought you were asking for opinions - which curtain do you like? My apologies.

People are always taking polls on here, so it's a legit question. No one making fun. And it is difficult to tell that's a bay from that pic.

Technically tho, I think searching for curtainrod/curtain rod, would be more accurate, at least in the US. I've only heard them called poles on this site.

I'm British. I live in the UK. We say pole. Not rod. If you go into a shop that sells curtain rods, they will be labelled as curtain poles. Not rods.

I did misspell it, but even when I was searching "curtain polls" rather than "curtain poles", curtain poles were still coming up, just not the type that would work in my house.

The window is definitely a bay window. We've even had the home-buyers survey back that describes it as a bay. I did attach a diagram which shows the shape of the window in my first comment to make it clearer what the shape was.

It looks kind of like an oddly shaped capital L, your window. ;)

I wonder if you could also get a long metal rod and bend it yourself. You can buy actual tube benders (used a lot in custom automotive fabrication) but I don't know if you'd want to spend that money. If you bought an inexpensive rod, you might be able to bend it with basic tools and by hand to see if it works. Just an idea.

I don't like what's there already - it's not a pole/rod, it's just a plastic runner. It's cheap looking and very dated. The lady who owned the house is quite elderly and has lived in it since it was built in the 1960s - I don't think much of the decor has changed since then. Luckily the kitchen is newer.

On your actual curtain pole, the easiest/cheapest solution is a rail, like the one you have, that can be bent to the degree you need. They are quite easy to fit, but might not be the look you want. At the other end of the price spectrum you can get a bespoke pole made. Most curtain makers will be able to make this and fit it. Poles can bend up to 90 degrees. But they are expensive.

I think I've found a solution. John Lewis sells bendy corner things that you attach poles to either end. Because of the shape of the window, I'd only need one downstairs and one for the upstairs bedroom. More expensive than what's there currently, but a lot cheaper than getting something custom made. I'm willing to spend a little bit more for the right look, but buying a first home is an expensive time anyway, so I don't want to spend an arm and a leg.
