Interesting! The first three hostas I acquired 30 years ago were exactly the hostas you list. Sometimes they aren't mentioned because of all the new varieties. My S&S may actually be Royal Standard but I will never be sure. However they are the mainstays of my shade gardens and I am digging and dividing them again for new areas this year. I can always count on them to fill an area quickly.

I am no expert in hosta identification but I can often correctly ID a S&S from 100 yards away! I can't think of another hosta I can do that with.

Same here @ gardencool. No expert either, but I sure enjoy using Hosta on my projects. Spring is right around the corner for both of us!

For great photos of thousands of hosta cultivars, check out hostalibrary.org, an amazing website. They have things all listed alphabetically, it's very user friendly, and the photos are amazing. You will quickly discover that S&S looks nothing at all like Royal Standard. Do keep in mind that a great many hostas sold commercially are mislabeled, which make the "what hosta is this" game even more difficult. When in doubt, you can also post a photo of a hosta on this forum and ask members for their thoughts on what variety it might be.
