New LG washer and dryer different shades of white

I recently purchased a new LG washer and dryer set, but they are not the same shades of white. One is a bright white and the other has a gray tone to it. If they were in the basement where few people saw them, it wouldn't bother me, but I have a large laundry room on the first floor that is passed through on the way to the garage and also one of the ways to get to the kitchen. Several people have noticed the color difference, but a few have not, so I don't know if I'm being too picky. Would it bother any of you to have two different shades or do you think I should just let it go and be happy I'm not doing laundry by pounding it on rocks down by the river ? Lol

I would care. No one sees our w/d but my husband and me but if I spent that kind of money and expected a "matching" set, I'd want a MATCHING set. And pressing the dealer to replace them (or one of them) with the same models MAY fix them :) You just need to talk to the right (knowledgeable) person where you bought them and I'd also call the manufacturer. You can also be thankful you're not pounding your clothes on rocks!

It would not bother me. The plastic trim on the control panel of our 9 y/o FL washer is yellowing from light (adjacent to a window) and no longer matches the paint. It happens. Chances are your machines were painted from different dye lots and a replacement might not match, either. As long as they work properly, that is all that matters to me. :-)

I wouldn’t care much either. Returning them and exchanging them will likely result in the same as paint colors vary at each plant.

You purchase a set because they are supposed to match and they were purchased at the same time so there is no reason that they shouldn't be the same color. That is LG's problem, not yours. I would call and have them exchange them. We have an LG set from Costco that matches perfectly.

I would definitely be upset. Mine are in a highly visible spot and it would drive me nuts walking by them everyday. Good luck. I hope they can fix it for you.

OMG, I have a new LG washer and dryer that are just over 2 months old. I never noticed it before I saw this post, but I think the dryer is grayer than the washer.

A cosmetic problem not previously noticed until referenced by an outside source ... shouldn't be considered a problem. :-)

Hi, I am the original poster and have an update. After I expressed my concern to the appliance center, someone came out and looked at it. He said it was due to the lighting, but I didn't believe him because they are in the same room sitting right next to each other in the same lighting. So, to prove his point, he flip flopped them. Sure enough, the one that had looked gray now appeared white and the one that had looked white now appeared gray. It's the craziest thing. I have learned something new about the affect of lighting.

maggie2 - wow, thank you for the update. That is really interesting. Kudos to your dealer for taking the time to flip them.

I had the same problem with mrs. worthy's new white car.

But the problem, I realized, is me: one eye is cataract-dimmed, the other has a manmade lens over a damaged macular. So I see correct colours but fuzzy through the manmade lens, but clear and darker shades through the other. Face a white car from the side and one door seems white, the other a poor colour match. That's why our new home will skew grey!

I must confess that I really like this washer and dryer (WM3900) and it wouldn't be worth it to me to call service over this. My eye is pretty discerning and the fact that I didn't notice this until I saw this thread tells me that it must be pretty subtle . . . if there's a difference at all!

I had a new white lg washer and dryer delivered yesterday. One was warm white and one was cool white. Noticeably different. I did not accept delivery and am hoping the next ones delivered are the same shade of white. LG needs to fix this problem.

I would care I also have a LG washer and dryer set and both are identical white shade.

OK, everyone, here is a photo of a set we just got. What do you all think? Lighting? Shadows? Looks bad? Not a big deal?
They are DEFINITELY, completely different colors. On the left, we have the washer in WHITE, on the left, we have the dryer in what is almost a TAN or BEIGE.

Model numbers typically are coded for color. What are yours?

What will you do when it is time to replace one of them if the other one is still working properly? Will you replace them both? The colors will certainly have some variance if considerable time passes. Regarding mrallied, the colors look very different in the photo. It looks as if the machines have been installed. If it were me, I would ask the seller for a price adjustment before having one or both picked up and a new set or appliance delivered and installed. The wear and tear of your house and nerves should be considered, and mention that to the seller.

    These are what we ordered:

Color choices are White or Black Steel. Looks like white vs. almond or bisque but those aren't choices so it's not a mix-up on that level, and appears there's too much difference between them in the close-up to reasonably account for a variation of white. Can you post full photos of the set from a couple of angles for reference?

Also, those cited models are what you ordered ... but what is stated on the model/serial tags on the machines?

Same thing here. Dingy grayish white LG dryer and sparking white washer. It’s supposed to be a matched set. Disappointed!

On my 3rd try to get a matching LG washer and dryer delivered, this is what I got. All 3 times, they were different shades of white. These are in a high traffic area of my house and this mismatch would bother me every time I saw it. I did not accept delivery and will have to shop for another brand that knows how to mix their paint.

I wonder if more than one plant produces these and each plant uses a different mixture of white paint.

I’m sure that’s the case. But being a consumer product development engineer, it’s a classic case of poor quality standards, control and execution.

Here too, my washer and dryer (series 4000 LG) are supposed to be the same color, but they appear a bit off. I have a window in the laundry room and closed the blind . . . they both looked the same ”off white”. Turned on the led overhead and opened the blind. . . one of each. Never had this happen with my older washers that were Fridgedaire. Oh well, at least I have the ability to close the door when it really gets me.

So has anyone heard what LG has to say about this?

I just purchased the LG washer and dryer and I have the same issue. I called LG and they are replacing the washer which appears a bit off white. If they can’t solve the problem, they will let me return both.

I have the same problem! front load washer/dryer set., dryer has a greyish hue, costco did replace it for me but it is the same!! so will to to contact someone at LG to see of they can resolve this.

Same issue ! Model only In the Grey tone & dryer Bright white !! Ready to scream & have to choose different model all over again or just settle!!!

Remember... with LG, you should always lower your expectations.

I just replaced my 14 year old Samsung Platinum washer and dryer with the LG 4000 Series washer and dryer. Even tho the Samsung dryer was still working I replaced it so that they would match in my laundry room. Thousands of dollars spent on appliances absolutely should match and not have this problem. LG needs to figure out their problem with this and fix it so their customers don't have to deal with this aggrevation!

I agree 100% I hate the 2 different colors if white!!!!
