thanks Patricia. Yes that color is in my kitchen, the room adjoining my foyer and even the family room behind it. My house is expanded cape with all the upstairs rooms being on the backside of the house. The front of house above the foyer and adjoining step down living room is roof (and attic space) so the front of the house appears to be a ranch as there are no 2cd story windows in front. Therefore house is dark. On most days (with the exception of today when pic was taken) the foyer is quite dark adn the current grasscloth I have on walls looks very downing. Both grasscloths are more like paper rather than traditonal grasscloth and are Thibault. I thought of art to replace the mirror but to the left of the wall with mirror I have a larger non curved wall that would need something on it as well and might be art overload. It can not have a table in front of that wall because it is essentially a "walkway" to the next room

Gorgeous. And I agree with Patty in living the round table with flowers and books in it but. Perhaps something more modern? If you need light, go with the lighter color blue/grey paint. Find a home elsewhere for the round table. Get a console or buffet table under that round mirror and add a table lamp and send decor, including fresh flowers. On the curved wall add a fabulous chair with a small table next to it. On the wall, a smallish beautifully framed piece of art and a battery operated picture light. Or do the entire curved wall in framed art and bail on the chair. Lastly, add a very large light colored rug to coordinate and brighten up the floor space. The entry will feel brighter, less formal
And maybe more welcoming.

Keep the walls simple...paint, no paper...the wall color paint should continue up onto the ceiling under the landing. Add a larger round rug. Hang the mirror or art on a straight wall. Keep the centerpiece in scale with the table.

Ok i like and appreciate all the suggestions but here is some more info. The wall to the right and behind the round table are both curved. The wall to the right has a deeper curve than the other. The wall to the left of the table is straight. I have tried putting items (chair, small table) to the left of the stairs but it looks cluttered and makes the other wall (due to the doorway in between) look non symmetrical. The straight wall can not have a table in front of it because you would feel like you were walking into it as you entered the next room. Without a rug in the space it feels too empty.

So from what Im gathering, I should get a larger rug and lighter (I thought mine was pretty light to begin with but...) get soemthing for the table that is larger in scale, put artwork on straight wall and replace mirror with...?

i think two other issues I see (which I dont know how to address) is that when viewing the room from the living room so you are seeing the TWO curved walls with doorway in between- your eye swants to see something symetrical on each wall BUT then when you view the room head on and you only see ONE curved wall your eye wants to see something important there. The other issue is that the Lantern chanfleier hanging is never going to look centered in the room due to the placement of walls and doorway- it drives me crazy actually. ha!

ok took the mirror to down to see the wall. Agree there needs to be something of scale on the table. Is the table itself too small for the space? I feel like artwork behind the table on the wall might "compete" with what is on the table or look lost.

I would suggest a larger table for this area. I would eliminate the round rug, as well. If you want a mirror where the round was I would suggest a tall vertical mirror hung high as you are able to just shy of the wainscoting. The width needs to capture the table in it’s entirety.

Karen if i went with larger table would you stay with a dark color or get lighter one? I am moving forward with the lighter wallpaper (Thibault baldwin herringbone)

@ jodifina, I don’t see a need for you to worry about the color of the table yet. Can you find a few tables that appeal to you and your taste? Did you put up a sample of the herringbone wallpaper? This table can be the perfect introduction to what people can expect to see in your home...so you can be traditional/eclectic/tongue-in-cheek (fun) or modern. The “mood” of your wallpaper can tie into a certain look or in this instance with a herringbone it can add texture, an architectural aspect or it can serve as a neutral, quiet background.
