google glass fabrication companies in your area. acrylic might scratch if you scrub it (not sure, but seems like it would).

just an FYI: the wall behind my kitchen sink is painted with satin latex wall paint (I think it's valspar). it's been like that for years and seems to hold up fine -- even when I have to scrub off stains. keep some touch up paint just in case.

I have a plexiglass backsplash that I ordered online. It is .375 inches thick. After I received it I realized I could have probably done half that thickness. I had mine cut to size. It is 6.75"x31" and it cost about $55, half of which was shipping. I got it from here and the thickness you can select ranges from .062" to 1".

I had a plexiglass splash behind the sink and stove in a weekend house we purchased. It had wallpaper behind it. Weird, I thought. But it worked just wonderfully well. I had meant all along to replace the whole with tile and in the end never got round to it and sold it as it was. I would do it again. It never scratched, but we never had to scrub it hard, either.
