The shelves will be fine if built out of 3/4" material. I would not hinge the doors like the cabinet in the above link. Hinge them the same as pie cut lazy susan doors.

Creative Design Cabinetry and Salex, thank you so much for the responses and pictures! Sorry, I'm just seeing this, I never received an email notification and thought the post had died. I was heppy to see it hadn't!

I showed DH your responses and he says his main problem is that he doesn't have a good way to cut the angled corner so his shelves would have to be joined at the center. Though, he did do it with our corner super susan base cabinet, which looks fine to me, but he says its really not that straight and when he gets the door on it likely won't close exactly right. I guess my question to you Salex is are your shelves joined or are they one single piece? If joined, how are they done? If cut, what did you use? A bandsaw, a jig? Were looking at either side of our cabinet to be 33" long to fit in the space we have for it. Thanks!

@Forever Now each shelf is a single piece. I started with each shelf as a rectangle and then made two stopped cuts toward the inside corner on the table saw. I stopped shy of the actual corner, and then used a hand saw (a fine-toothed pull saw) to get all the way to the corner. I've made similar cuts using just a fine-toothed pull saw for the entire cut, but my results were not as good as on the table saw. Then I applied 1/4" solid wood edging to both sides for a finished front.

I think the same cut could be done with a circular saw with a straight edge guide. Another option would be a bandsaw (ideally with a fence or guide) or even a handheld jigsaw with a rigid blade (and of course the bandsaw or jigsaw could go all the way to the corner).
