You can get clears but they won't last long you can get transparent stains or semi trans look at Sikkens log and siding stains

I have been doing some research on stains - looking at doing my deck that is approx 2 years old.
Have cleaned it and got rid of all the grey, now I'm waiting for it to dry out and stain.


I'm looking at Benjamin Moore - ArborCoat. The Translucent - Natural. I want to keep the natural color of the wood. There are lots of "how to's" on the B M site and You tube.

From what I have been reading the more "color" you have in your stain, the longer it will stay protected from UV rays etc.
I really don't mind putting another coat on each as I don't want to change the color of the wood
which transparent and semi transparent will do.

My Dad has been using Sikkens on his cedar sided house since 1985. We used BM arborcoat but our stain is opaque. Loved it though.
