Just a stab, since you haven't really said what you're envisioning... Otherwise, try browsing the Before & Afters zone of this site, and see if you find any transformations there that inspire you or give a sense of how a small change or two can really make a space feel different.

Counters and a backsplash is all I would do. The cabinets look really good. When you get to the point of replacing the stove or refrigerator opt for the same finish. Currently you are showing white refrigerator and SS range.

Painted cabinets often make the kitchen look too cold if there is not some wood in the space like a wood floor. Many of the newer kitchens have returned to warm wood tones - so I think you can refresh your kitchen without painting cabinets - which often does not wear well over the long haul and can be very pricy. Painting cabinets works well for adding years to worn cabinets while saving up for new, but I generally do not recommend it for pretty cabinets in good shape.

One thing to check on - some slide in ranges require protection to the back wall. I cannot tell in your pic if there is is glass or any other protective material for that wall. Check on that as a safety precaution.

Your kitchen already looks very nice. Beautiful cabinets! The one thing I think would give you a real lift would be a stainless steel refrigerator. If you move ahead with new counters, do the new backsplash from counter up to the cabinets, shelves and window trim, too.
