I also want to know, when I order the new UltraPhase Sensitive cartridges, what do I do with the full ones that are in the machine? I only have used them once, so they are full. It would be a shame to throw them away, but perhaps I will have to.

I am planning to buy the sensitive version to try once I'm done with my cartridge of the normal detergent. Once I adjusted the detergent dosage way down (to better match my water), the scent is really no longer there, especially after dried, and no suds left in the rinse cycle.

The manual recommends if you are not using TwinDos for over 2 months, the tubes can become clogged. So you might need to get a TwinDos care cartridge and flush the lines. I remember someone posted on the forum that their lines had become clogged from no use for an extended period.

For the existing cartridge, could you use it to clean rags or something? If so, maybe transfer it into a normal bottle and dose manually for those loads.

I have ordered the sensitive cartridges and am waiting to try. I plan on using the empty cartridges for filling with detergent that I have had from before I bought the miele. Also I just learned that some of the special cycles like down do not dispense TwinDos, thus I just washed several jackets in water only. Bummer. I am also waiting for the down detergent. I was a sucker and bought a bunch of the specialty detergents. I will take advantage of all the free regular twindos detergent that came with the purchase, but don't like the strong scent.

Interested to hear how you like the sensitive TwinDos once it arrives, I'm waiting to finish my existing stock of standard TwinDos until I order some.

For downs, you need a non-enzyme detergent to wash/condition down. So they turn off TwinDos to prevent damage to the garment. They also do this for wool.

FWIW the Down cartridge is the one I have stocked up on out of all the options they sell. It does such a great job on washing all my down items like jackets, duvet and pillows. It's not something I'm washing on a weekly basis, so the cartridges work out great for this. The woolens cartridge also works great, especially in the winter for sweaters.

I ordered the down and wool and silk caps/cartridges too. Figured it makes more sense than measuring it out, as the price wasn't that different. I'll wash my next round of down with the correct detergent. I did not realize about the enzymes and down and wool, but excellent to know!! Makes sense I guess. Clearly I have a lot to learn re laundry. Do you have the matching dryer, and do you think it is significantly better than regular work horse dryer? (Our house came with older, but functional kenmore huge appliances)

Yes I have the T1 matching dryer. It will take a little longer than a normal/full size dryer, but the main things I like about it is that it's very gentle on the clothes -- Nothing over dried (The sensors will shut it off before a garment gets over dried), not really any static cling in the winter, no external vent to the outside to keep clean. Also very efficient with electric use. Plus I'm a huge fan of their scent cartridges since I don't use fabric softener.

you will like the dryer - I agree with Cal.

I use the regulate detergent and an extra rinse. I don't really smell anything on the clothes after the dryer - I like that . Not a fan of the dryer scent cartridges just because of the smell - just me.

I have used the ultra dark caps and like them. It seems to do a good job on pure black clothes. The down caps would be a good purchase as well. The cap system is more expensive, but if you don't do that type of way regularly it is better than but a jug of detergent just for occasional use

I won't say that you have to relearn laundry, but if you buy decent clothes, a good laundry system will make then look better longer. Some treat a front loader as a civil war cannon muzzle loader and cram everything in there at once.

Thanks for the advice Cal and delray. I will add that to the list of big ticket items I would like but don't need. House needs to be painted, so that comes first, then dishwasher, then dryer. In the meantime I will await my new detergents and enjoy my way cleaner laundry!

Save two of your empty twinDos cartridges for a line flush. Us a metal pick and carefully pry 7 remove the venting plug at the top rear of the cartridge. You will want to make sure that your pick is not too sharp at the point. The plug comes right out and then you can fill it with plain water insert the plug and run the program to flush your lines

Just use a small angled tip funnel and push the plunger down inside the white spout on the top of the twindos cartridge. Pour water in. No need to pick the air vent out.

Miele gives two reasons. First if you change detergents and I don't see that being necessary.......... ad then second they say if the machine will sit unused for a long period....... I think they suggested around 6 months......... then it would be advisable to be proactive to flush the #1 detergent line because the detergent could thicken and potentially clog the line.

You can buy refillable dispensers and use whatever detergent you like - Thay are also useful to do flush (or keep and old empty unit) and if ever the supply dries up you can continue to use the dispenser system.

The european refillable containers will not work in a north american w1. Miele specifucally designed them not to fit. It is possible to re-use an empty twindos cartridge by refilling it.

Unfortunately, Miele has discontinued their Ultraphase 1 Sensitive. Wondering if there are any other compatible Twindos detergents appropriate for sensitive skin (no dyes, no fragrances).

Refill the cartridge with detergent of your choice. We use Tide PurClean, but any detergent that isnt super thick in viscosity (it should be in the runny side) will work fine.

Miele really hiked the prices of the TwinDos detergent. It is unsurprising that it isnt selling all that well in North America. Tide is a ”premium” detergent with a premium price, but its 1/2 to 1/3 what the Miele TwinDos detergent costs.

That price really went up it is twice the price here in the USA compared to Europe

Came back in stock in Australia November same price (Around AUD$35 each) - Spoke to Miele and they were not aware of any plans to stop making it. I have 12 months in pantry now so plenty of time to change if need be - I have refillable containers so no issues there.
