Several things come to mind and you will just have to wait to see.

A larger root was dug and these are root portions that were broken off.

These are seedlings from a plant that was either there or whose seeds washed into a low area.

The previous plant was one of the corals which are known to form new plants from tiny sections of root.

I would leave them there for now. If there is a bloom bud on that largest stalk and it opens you will be able to know if it is a coral. If it is just leave them because they will always be there. If the bud opens and it is not one of the corals this fall dig and move to a better area. You may have to wait a couple of years to see if it is or is not a coral.

Hi Thank you! I think you maybe right. I will leave them and see what happens. Hopefully some flowers this year! I will try to amend the soil around a bit.
