Help with loquat seeds

last modified: 6 years ago

I planted some loquat seeds right after I ate the fruit. Its been well over a week, probably two, but none have sprouted. It is warm outside (in the 70s), and I have watered them every day. Any idea what the issue might be?

Thanks!

Also - a related question - I read in a few places that if you plant a loquat seed they might very well not grow fruits, since the fruit ones come from grafting. But is that really true? Because there are SO many of those trees around Houston, and I've never seen one that does not bear fruit. I really doubt so many people went and bought loquat trees that were grafts and planted them instead of just planting seeds.

Thanks!
