Hi there, I would probably not try to create symmetry here. You really don’t need two mirrors in the same space, so instead, I would try some large scaled framed art, that will compliment the nice piece over the FP. That way the clock will stand on its own. A great space! Keep us posted!

potchiemagoooooramamdamadingdong. Sorry. I couldn't spell your name. I just purchased a large etagere bookcase for the alcove where the large mirror is and will remove that mirror. Hopefully that will fix that area. I will post pics when I get it setup. we have lived here 13 years and this room has been the thorn in my side. The red furniture was my husband's idea.

The big clock and the window glare on the TV would be my thorn! Can't your TV tell you the time? Place it left of the FP in that recess. Float the sofa facing it and the FP. Then angle the two chairs right and left of the sofa.The mirror that is reflecting your kitchen is failing to double something beautiful or interesting. If there is anything worth seeing twice outside your windows, hang it opposite them.

decoenthusiast - Thank you for your advice. I've had the tv in the recess and when the sofa is facing the fp, the chairs take up too much room in front of the sofa as this room is not very wide. I ordered a large etagere type bookcase and that will work well in the recess. Both the smaller mirror and clock are installed with some major hanging artillery so if I removed them, then were talking mudding and painting and $$. I sure dont want to go into all of that.

If the clock is new enough, return it. It is not doing your living room any favors, the size is off, it’s spider web-y, it doesn’t go with the rest of your decor, and is creating difficulty with your other choices. I am sorry, large clock was a mistake and needs to go. I realize you said it will take painting if you removed it, but really, painting and patching that bit of wall should not cost the dollars you said, nor a lot of time either.

Thanks for your input. I bought it 2nd hand so I can't return it. Maybe I could sell it? My bookcase is being delivered on Monday and I will see if I can get these 2 walls painted before then. Thanks again for your input. Please see my new picture below..

I would move the red chair (that's next to the fireplace) and place it next to the other red chair, across from the fireplace. Then place that small accent table between them.

Then, remove the round mirror. Place a large piece of art there, centering it between the left edge of the TV and the end of the wall. Then, put the floor lamp to the left of the TV as well, just a few inches from the console. Place a couple taller indoor plants to the right of the TV console.

Also, this is very random, but have you thought about shortening the length of your fan's rod extension?? Right now it really drops down into the room and if it was raised it would make your ceilings feel taller/room feel more open. Little details like that make a world of a difference visually.

Thank you for your input. I like your suggestions and love the idea of placing the chairs next to one another only it would block the entrance into that room and one of the chairs is a recliner. I plan to shorten the ceiling fan when I get time.

I think the new shelves add enough interest that you could remove the clock and leave that spot empty.
