Do you know how tall this Philadelphus might grow?
I would love to know if this Philadelphus is going to be 5-6 feet like the one I have or shorter and if so how short.
I got this from a garden club plant sale last fall. It was in a 2 x 2 " pot. I've asked the gal that propagated it what species it is but no word back yet.
I absolutely love the one in my garden even though I've neglected it and it gets hot afternoon sun. I know it could be much more lavish in a cooler climate and better cared for. I'll try that with this new one and the other one also.
I'm attaching a picture of the one I'm talking about. It was in full flower a week ago, not as beautiful now. I have no idea if this picture is too big or how to make it smaller, I guess it's on the site somewhere.
Aren't we lucky to enjoy gardening which can be a help getting through these days!

though it is a shrub.. which you could rejuvenate yearly ... and beat it back somewhat ...
basically every year .. you could go in there.. and remove the tallest branches down near the ground ... so that they dont just keep growing up and up and up ...

doing the cutting isnt that big a deal.. but dealing with the cut brush can be ... and what i could do 10 or 20 years ago.. im not really interested in doing now.. so... unfortunately ... i have too many very big shrubs.. that in my youth ... would have been maintained better ...
in other words.. dont plant a lifetime job.. just in case you lose interest ...
now.. how about you try propagating the one you have.. if you think its the bees knees???

and come to think about it.. maybe your seller already knows how to do it ... and might do it for you.. if she could get some extra pieces for herself for the next sale??? .. work smart.. not hard... lol ..

ps: there are variegated version.. and due to the reduced chlorophyl... are a bit less aggressive ... so will stay smaller longer.. though i have no idea if they would work in FL ...

this one stays rather small in my MI ... and burns like a crisp in august ... not sure it would favor FL at all ...
