Very good! I thought since the marble countertop seems to be on the bottom of cupboard that it was an appliance cabinet.

The whole cabinet, top and bottom is used as a pantry with pull out shelves in the bottom portion. The top cabinet rests on top of the countertop.

Hat is the color of the backsplash?W

The color of the backsplash is a warm grey. Encore, the manufacturer calls it Silver.

Is there a reason why you recommend this design of cabinet sitting on top of counter over a floor to ceiling pantry? It looks really nice. I ask because I just ordered a pantry for our new kitchen but I like hoe this looks better. Do you lose storage this way though? Really beautiful kitchen!

Thanks! Yes, you do lose some storage. I used this pantry arrangement for many functional reasons. By stepping it back, it allows greater accessibility to the corner and the cabinet next to it. Also, the upper cabinet door to the left of the range would have hit a 24" deep pantry. So there are logistical reasons as well as aesthetics. In my experience, roll out shelves in uppers aren't practical unless you are tall so I generally design upper pantries with a shallower depth for easier access.

With all that being said, some clients prefer the tall 24" deep pantries , so the decision to use them depends on each persons preferences and habits as well as the size and layout of the kitchen.

Thanks, it's a prefinished wood floor made by Stang Lund. It is called Forde in 5" planks and is hard waxed oiled and brushed.
