Suggest a backsplash color please

I'm fixing up and selling my cape cod rental property. I picked out white sparkle granite for the kitchen and gave the slab number to the granite installer. Because it would have been a long delay getting what I wanted, he took it upon himself and installed something he felt looked similar. I guess he thought I wouldn't noticed, but I did. He never called me or asked my permission. I am not risking damaging the new white kitchen cabinets by asking him to take the granite out. I am waiting to hear about getting a discount. If I don't get any money back I am moving on. The stress is not worth the hassle. The installed granite is much darker than the white sparkle slab I wanted.

I already had a backsplash tile picked out. Problem is the backsplash I chose is the same dark saturation of color as the installed granite. Think black, charcoal, and greys. I was not going for the overall dark look. I wanted some opinions. I am thinking I need to go lighter, but just wonder what the masses have to say. I want to appeal to sellers.

This is the backsplash mosaic tile I was planning on using paired with the white sparkle granite I did not get.

This is the installed darker granite. I have no idea what it's called. I think the tile is too dark to use now. It is basically the same color as this dark granite. The colors are black, grey, charcoal.

The floor was suppose to be an entity of it's own. I was not planning to repeat the brown anywhere else in the kitchen. The floors in the kitchen and throughout the house are red oak stained with DuraSeal Aged Barrel. This picture is before the walls were painted and the trim put in. The walls are light grey. The cabinets are white. Handles and appliances are stainless.

Here is a picture of part of the kitchen and my wonderful carpenter who has kept me from jumping off the ledge. The white walls will be a tiled backsplash.

    Good luck getting your discount.

Do hope you recoup your entire investment and a hefty profit when you sell..

It could have been worse. On the upside, at least you didn't end up with a countertop that is a busy dirty looking cluster of shades of black and brown and gold and ugly dirty tan/yellow.

NOT a fan of that busy dark backsplash you're considering .... especially not with that dark and "busy" countertop.

Since you're expecting to sell the home, don't invest money you're not positive you're going to get back ... especially not in something someone else is likely going to rip out

Add a four inch tall rounded top tile "backsplash" in a solid color (chosen from within the granite countertop) -- darkest (black) or the lightest (gray) color within it, for instance -- then paint the wall above it the most "beach" shade gray you can find.

Post after pics and let us know how it turns out.

Suezbell, If you look to the right of the window you will see the paint color. It is a very light shade of grey.

I do like the very light (beach friendly) shade of gray you already have. When I read "Cape Cod", I think beach.. If you're keeping that color for your wall (I would), consider the lightest gray color from the countertop for your row of backsplash tile.

Do you like white tile with grey grout? Maybe subway but in an interesting pattern.

plain white subway! I don't think grey grout, I like very simple when mixed with granite. kinda can't go wrong if your goal is mass appeal.

Safe is the way to go to appeal to the masses when selling, and with the dark relatively busy granite it will look the best and is budget friendly.

White subway with the lightest grey grout , or white grout. Strong no to multi grey glass backsplash. You definitely should push for a discount on the granite since it isn’t what you asked for.

Like the white tile with white grout backsplash. Lightest grey would be a close second as a tile backsplash choice.

I used a small glass subway tile laid out in a running bond pattern. My contractor just sent this picture to me. I am shopping for appliances now. Not all the lighting is installed so the picture is dark. I have a larger semi-mount light in the kitchen that matches this pendent light. It's Progress Lighting Glayse. I am using filament bulbs. Thanks for the help everyone.

I got $400 back for the granite after writing a bad review. I took a few pictures. Waiting for appliances.
