Cheer powder seemingly is discontinued, other than perhaps stock on-hand at specific locations. Cheer Colorguard liquid is available.

Well that's a bummer to hear. For some reason I was thinking that the liquid version had optical brighteners, but I might give it a try.

I've had trouble finding Cheer powder too for months now. I am sad to hear it's likely discontinued as I use it a lot. One of my favs.

Based on posts on this board, months ago I bought some liquid Woolite for darks. Lots of people seem to like it, and it does have a bit of dark dye to it, which is a good thing for blacks and dark navys, but it will not clean our clothes to our satisfaction. We seem to be in the minority though. Maybe give a try. If you lived nearby, I'd give you my jug. It's just sitting there...

I too think liquid Cheer has optical brighteners in it.

Sorry to see that Cheer is getting hard to find. It still is on the P&G site. I gotta go scoop some up just in case.

At one point my Walmart carried MAS for darks. I actually liked it as well, but now I can't find it either.

Oh no! Thats horrible. Hope you guys can find some! I personally do not like the Cheer liquid enough to use it, although it is better than Gain.

Best Alternative to Cheer Powder? Probably Tide PurClean. Ironically, it is becoming hard to find as well.

If you are looking for a powder with no optical brighteners, try Seventh Generation or Biokleen Premium.

If you have a Big Lots close by check there. That is where a lot of left over products go when you can’t get them in your regular stores anymore.

Searching online, it doesn't appear to be discontinued. I also buy this, if it is discontinued I'd want to buy an extra box.

Miele makes a detergent for colors. Our dark clothes don't get super dirty, so it cleans well enough for us. The scent is really nice. But it is expensive.

Looks like I'm going to be rationing my Cheer powder now that it is going to be hard to find, and will only use it exclusively for colors.

Where are you finding Cheer powder detergent online? I am not having luck finding it, anywhere, except Amazon, where some seller is charging several arms and legs per box.

Looking for Cheer powder today, I did see Tide Purclean on Target's website available for pick-up or delivery.

I can't use it here as it suds up too much for my drain pipe to handle, but in case you were in need of some...

jenfbc - like I said, it is expensive. In our FL washer a little goes a long way and the scent is really nice.

Yet another thumbs up powder detergent bites the dust. I'll miss Cheer.

I was at Target on Friday. I was able to find some PurClean on clearance and was able to use a coupon along with the clearance price. A large 64 load bottle was $10, but after coupon was $8. Not too bad for a darks detergent that does perform fairly well. I did see that they are selling it in the EcoBox now. The price was high. $17 for 72 loads. I will stick to the clearance stuff for now.

SEA SEA, I know the feeling! You do have to dose carefully! I find Cheer powder fairly sudsy too! Normally I slightly underdose and compensate with STPP! A relative has a summer home that we spend quite a bit of time at. She has a Maytag Dependable Care TL, and the PurClean will be used there. Soft water makes this stuff perform well, but suds are abundant! Thankfully that Maytag has numerous spray rinses.

Jeff, nice stock! Probably a good idea to put the extra boxes in some trash bags or something to prevent moisture from causing bad clumping!

Wow Jeff! Lucky you. I picked up some Gain Botanicals at our local Dollar General. I'm not crazy about the smell, but we'll see how it does.

I think it was a matter of being out of sight that saved me. Both Walmart's I visited for the Cheer had them on the very top shelf,out of view as well as reach for most people.

The Walmart I frequent (in Southern Connecticut) does have Cheer Powder, 80 load size.

I'm currently working on my box of Cheer powder now and was at Walmart to pick up a Gain powder. I'm hoping they will continue to carry Cheer powder...or should I just go back and pick up a box?

I would grab it while you can! It's still not in stock in my southern OK store. I have switched to this for darks and really like it.

The Walmart I go to has a 4 foot multi shelved section of just powdered detergents.

I never seen any powders in super markets (well not many if at all).

There are online sources that offer a package of two 120-load boxes but it's more $$ for the larger size plus shipping than WM's 80-load box.

I'd have to go there. I normally go to WM about once every two years. It's an adventure to get there, do the store then get back. It's about an all day thing. I live in a town with no such shopping choices. I rely on online shopping for things such as powder Cheer. When I do make the trek, I'll report on it.

So I did check online at a super Walmart about 6 miles from me (my nearby one was out), it said there was Cheer Stay Colorful in stock so I drove there and bought four boxes (already had a large box) and for better security I bought another box of Tide w/Bleach so I'm good to go for a long time. I hope to never need to switch to liquid or gelpacs

I will say, I do like Cheer powder, however, for the applications I would use it in, I find that the Tide Plus Downy Free is actually quite a bit better. This also applies for Tide PurClean as well. I can safely say that it rinses better, makes far less suds, and my clothes look great. Just a little long term review for those looking for an alternative!

Interesting. I get zero suds from Cheer powder. I ran a huge load of cargo shorts, briefs, and some other items a couple days ago (maxed-out the capacity of my Neptune TL). 2 tbsp STPP, 10(!) tbsp Cheer (the stated dosage for a "full HE load" is equivalent to 12 tbsp), 4 tbsp Biz (some of the items were from yardwork). (1) extra rinse. No suds in the wash, everything came out great.
