Are the leaves opposite? It isn't really clear. If opposite it may be a Viburnum such as dentatum

Kind of looks like Hazelnut too.

I think hazel because the leaves appear to be alternate.

There were no catkins. Hazelnut is prolific around here but never saw any on my property before.
