I think just a nice simple mahongany night table with a really nice glass based lamp . What is your bedding like ? The bed kind of eliminates MCM IMO. I usually use the bedding for my decor in a bedroom since it sets the tone for the space. That bed IMO need a very tailored type bedding so no duvets but a nice coverlet and then a throw at the end of the bed if someone wants more warmth.

@ker9, what's the height of the mattress and how much room is on either side? Budget?

Floor to top of mattress is 19", current table is 26" high x 23" long. There is about 33 to wall on right side and about 40 to wall on left, which also has a closet so more space on that side is appropriate. I'd like to stay simple and under $500 if at all possible. Def under $1000

Trying to find a mahogany that matches is impossible, I've spent years on that effort. Most products are stained and just don't come close so I've come to the conclusion that it needs to be something different. Just not sure what goes. There are also white oak floors to contend with.

I think a white/light-painted nightstand would look best! I'm not a fan of matchy-matchy nightstands and beds and I think it would add interest to the room since your paint and flooring look fairly neutral. I'd look on Wayfair they have lots of options at good prices. Some suggestions-

Laura Hill - thanks for the inspiration photos. I was thinking white would be too stark but your photos prove otherwise. The last photo with the three mirrors above, I've seen that before and spent time looking for those side chests with no luck.

Am totally open to a table or small chest versus traditional nightstand. Is guest room so does not really require a drawer, but extra drawers are always welcome ;)

IMO the bed needs a substancial night stand and even though not quite what you were planning design wise I think beverly’s ideas are awesome. I do my guest room much different style than the rest of my house so maybe just go awesome traditional . This is kind of a nice transitional look

I would go a couple of white nightstands, nothing too big, too tall or fancy. Your bed looks low and out of proportion to the size of your lamp. You might want to consider a top mattress and a couple of small lamps.

As nightstands, I use these Councill 4 drawer batchelor's chests that are a bit warmer beige than they appear in the photos. I've found that this color and finish works almost everywhere. They are no longer being made by Councill but I think using a painted or distressed piece like the one shown by @BeverlyFLADeziner would look great. (Option to change hardware, of course, lol.)

I wound’t add dark night stands but go with white and when white bedding and accessories are added, room will feel soft and lighter. There are so many used pieces of solid furniture and can easily be painted.

I’d look for complimentary styles, but not matching for a more interesting look. It can be very rewarding to search and redo (plus the cost saving) and guests will appreciate the individuality of room

What color is the bedding. You want to stay within an inch or two of the mattress height if possible. Too modern?
