There are a lot of good things said about GE Monogram on this board, but I don't see a lot about the Cafe. You might try looking for individual reviews on appliance sales websites. That's a good place to find out what to expect from specific appliances.

We have stainless cafe appliances and no they are not fingerprint resistant. I do love them though, the dishwasher the most!

The only stainless steel I have found that is fingerprint resistant is textured stainless that has a 3D effect rolled into it. My sink is like that, custom made in the Prestige finish from Havens Metal. I believe Rachiele also offers an option like that for custom-made metal items like sinks and vent hoods. You might consider paneling a refrigerator which you can do if you get a panel-ready model that accepts cabinetry fronts. I haven't seen many textured appliances that are not discontinued on the market, though. The type of finish to which I am referring is more than just a "brushed" textured finish, it is a 3D design rolled into the metal. Works great to hide fingerprints and water spots.

During our kitchen remodel in November we installed all GE Cafe stainless steel appliances. I love them but they are not fingerprint resistant.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm considering the matte black. I just love the look of the cafe appliances and reviews are good. We have electric so I also love that the range has a warming drawer in the bottom. I would just hate to have a beautiful new kitchen with stainless appliances that look dirty all the time. We have 3 young children so it doesn't take much.

@j reese I really wouldn’t worry about it, I have 2 young kids and the fingerprints aren’t an issue. I wipe the fridge and dishwasher down with the stainless wipes once a week to shiny them up but the house is lived in so a few fingerprints on things is normal. Definitely go with a reliable brand with the features and look you want.

We have other stainless appliances and I can say the refrigerator and double oven do not seem to really be a problem but my dishwasher is always a mess, I wipe it down and before you know it fingerprints once again. Sort of odd as both the dishwasher and ovens are the same maker, but the oven seems much more resistant or maybe we just are better at using the handle correctly with the ovens. Would love to have a cabinet front for the dishwasher.

Since you have 3 small children, I would strongly caution you against black stainless steel. You could go with black plastic, but not black stainless steel. There are precious few companies that actually meld the black coating with the steel in such a way that scratches are not a problem. Were this an adult-only household, you would probably be fine. With children, you're looking at surface damage quickly. So I'm considering panel ready appliances as someone suggested for the refrigerator and dishwasher and ge cafe for the ovens. For those who own the ovens, are the fingerprints drastically noticeable on the ovens? Thanks.
