Landscaping around the house HELP!!

We’ve been in our house a little over two years now and finally got the walkway poured. The grass isn’t fully established but that is my husband’s battle. Now it’s time to take in landscaping around the house. I have three puny box woods (one I’m not sure what’s wrong with) and two small azaleas in front of the porch but that is it and they look... I need help. I’d like something easy to take care of as I have a crazy schedule and that will provide color year round. I live in zone 8a. Soil is a mix of sand and red clay. HELP!
