for the 2nd year one of my plum trees bloomed like crazy but sprouted almost no leaves at all. Not surprisingly last year no fruit. Can anyone tell me what is likely the problem. It does not appear to be bugs or fungus and several other trees within 50' are doing fine.

The tree is 6 or more years old and was ok before last year. It is either superior or alderman plum.
