Looking for some suggestions for our side path. Replacing an old crappy chain link fence (those 4x4s are posts for the incoming fence). The space tapers from a narrower (approx 4' from our front to 8' at the back). First picture is from the front of house 2nd is from where I'm putting in the new gate and fence.

We'd prefer keeping it to "softer" scape (not wanting to put in a patio stone walkway) but looking to make it more "inviting". Any suggestions about plants, products or design welcome! (were in southern ontario if climate is a factor for plant suggestions).

Thanks!!!
