I would run the tile in the same layout on the floor and shower walls. IMO vertical tile is a much more contemporary look and honestly without seeing the whole space hard to comment. You have to gut the shower anyway and the floors . Maybe some better pics would help.

• The tile should all run in the same direction
• Don't spend the money on actual marble when you can have the same look with porcelain
• Take the money you saved buying porcelain tiles that look like marble and use it to update your shower doors to something frameless.
• No brass in a farmhouse style bathroom.

A day doesn't go by on this forum without someone complaining about the marble in their shower with yellow stains appearing due to the leaching of minerals now exposed to constant water.

The shower space is 45x36 and I was worried the horizontal look would be weird with 12x24 inch tiles?

This is my kitchen and living room/dining area. Can I do a bathroom like this or would it contrast too much with the rest of the house? There are sliding barn doors on the closets in the master bedroom.
