Squirrel Attack, Part 2

Well ... just when I was beginning to wonder if it was time to give up on the bottom half of my nibbled, decapitated F. religiosa, some greenery sprouted from the dirt, at about where roots might be. I was duly excited. Symbol of hope and rebirth, yadda yadda.

However, these leaves now have a distinct toothiness which was not present on the main plant. Did I have a grafted plant? Do people even do that with ficus? I am perplexed. (Ignore the little tomato, it is from a plant which died from heat ... I may try to plant it and see if I can get another one.)

Thoughts? Suggestions? All welcome...
