I would remove the backsplash you have, don't build a backsplash on top of something that is already there. Otherwise reflecting on one of the light colors in your granite would be nice.

You already have a backsplash...the 4” piece of granite on the wall. Either keep that, and paint above...or remove it, and put in a tiled backsplash down to the counter. One or the other. A backsplash over a backsplash is a very dated look.

You have a very busy granite. A simple Subway tile splash would be best.

We redid our kitchen and we have about the same granite. I think this would look nice!

You have a backsplash I would just keep that and no to adding tile above that if you must do anew backsplash

thanks everyone! If we did a backsplash we would definitely remove that small strip of granite first. sounds like a subway tile matching the lighter color in the granite is the way to go.

Stay away from any backsplash tile which has any orange or yellow tone. Before you commit yourself to a backsplash color, consider getting a sample size of paint to try on the wall....before you buy any tile. A cream color that matches a color in the granite will work. Black or charcoal would be harsh. There doesn’t appear to be any white in the granite.

I think we were thinking of a cream color, something a little warm. we will get some sample tiles before we commit
