Paper the panels as the walls, Paint any surrounding trim to match. Add great hardware. Or simply paint in a satin finish match to the grass cloth and add great hardware. Presto. A feature versus an "eye sore".

Or, IF you don't need the storage within, remove the entire thing and create a niche, or some simple studs, drywall and gonzo. Depends if you need the storage. Could be great book cases, floating shelves, not there at all,,,,,,,,,,you pick. You haven't provided enough info to advise, other than you don't like the way it looks,, now.

The cabinets do look beautiful...but the fact remains they are right next to the pretty focal point of the room...the fireplace...Hard to imagine a need for that much of that kind of storage in a bedroom....perhaps there is room on the other side of that wall to open up the closet on the other side ...

The facts remain it is crowding the fireplace whether it is cabinets or deep (?) odd shelving ...no one is going to fall in love with either...close it off ...preserve the space for something pretty or useful...

A chair with a lamp for reading? A pretty piece of art or a plant?..keep it simple ...you are there to relax...

A carpenter could modify the doors to have a rattan inlay (such as cane webbing). You could do white for all, or natural cane and white trim...How about that instead of the grasscloth...

I would do the grass cloth to blend with the wall.. trim around it same color... it’ll blend and you may not even ‘see’them... and who has enough storage? I never will LOL

If you do not need the storage remove the whole thing it will ten be a nice spot for a piece of art .Please no cluttered up open shelves especially in a bedroom.
