Our washing machine drains into a self enclosed sump pump because our washer is many feet below any drain lines. The pump bucket clogs with silt, lint and sludge and occasionally the washer throws an error because it can't drain. I clean out the bucket annually. It's pretty full of silt and other sludge. it's a several hour long job because of where it's located. I'm looking for a better alternative (that doesn't involve moving the washer up from the basement).

The washer drain pipe is plumbed into the sump bucket. I'm willing to have it run though a filter but a lint filter isn't fine enough to remove the silt that ends up in the rinse water (we live on a dirt road).

I see a $140 fine mesh filter as one option, and those sleeve metal mesh lint traps which are useless for what we need to filter out of the wastewater. I'm willing to have the drain hose go into our laundry room sink instead of directly into the sump pump (feeds to the same sump pump) but I'm looking for a lower price option that the $140 model, which apparently needs to have its $15 filter replaced fairly often. Any suggestions for alternatives?
