I like #2. it's the prettiest but also looks the most comfortable.

#4 is gorgeous! but think about who uses that space. how long do people like to sit there? that stool looks like it would be comfortable for 10 minutes, max.

if you're looking for a stool that has a non-bulky look, I recommend a style with a low back, like this one. the backrest is tiny, but if designed right, they give just enough support and can be really comfortable.

I love #4, but agree with B F that it may not be comfortable for long.

For your kitchen, I would prefer something that would add a little warmth. #2 is great, but might prefer a leather chair that doesn't have the quilting. I also like #4, and I think you can get cushions to go on them. I agree with the previous poster that all those metal cross-hatches would be a little uncomfortable to sit on after a while.

#3 is easy to clean as I have similar chairs in my house. You need a product called Brillianize and some soft cloths to wipe the chairs down. You can purchase these on Amazon. You cannot use Windex or soap / water since it will cause the acrylic to yellow over time.

you know, forget what I said before. I searched and found #4 at CB2. the reviews are great and many say it's really comfortable. maybe start with one and test it out? it IS gorgeous!

#3 is fun, but this seating area is for kids? that smooth lucite is going to show sticky little handprints all the time. and it supposedly scratches easily.

gold is a warm color so that's a start. once you add countertop applances, accessories and art, you'll find the room to be more warm. it looks like you haven't even started using that kitchen yet, so that's going to make it look stark right now.

I have 5 crate and barrel stools that look so much like your #4 (Tig). They are surprisingly great to sit on even without the leather pads, but even better with them. I'm not actively using them yet, a couple more weeks until our new kitchen is done...but I have them on site and have tested them. They won't fit your budget unless on sale, but maybe worth a little extra? I don't know if yours can be ordered with the pads, but since it's the same company, check if the C&B ones fit #4 also.
