Looks like normal leaves dying back to me. Happens all the time.

Do you cut them off? Or are there any drawbacks in doing so?

If you have time you can cut them off. I never have time.

Just cut the brown parts off. The brown parts can't synthsize light anymore. The green parts of the leaves can still make enegy for the plant. You must be a real neat freak. It could be insect damage or slug damage. But the oldest leaves on a daylily naturally start browining an dying when conditions are rather dry.

As Debra sablid, nothing to panic about, they do this, but don't cut the green part or it will affect youoo

blooming the net year. I learned this the hard way.

I certainly wouldn‘t call myself a neat freak. More of a novice who hasn’t learned the difference between normal plant habits VS disease. “You don’t know what you don’t know” That‘s why I’m here. Thanks again for the input.

DL are the most hardy.. carefree.. run them over with the truck plants you can have ...

you need do nothing ...

if you want to.. all the power to ya ...

imo... there are things in life you need to worry about ... DL is not one of them ...

Up , I agree with Julia . late frost damage to leaves. cut off brown or leave . It looks nicer if the brown is gone though.
