Help with Direct Vent Fireplace Design Dilemma

Hello! We are having a house built. The great room fireplace will not be built out of the exterior wall but will be built inside and protrude in to the room . This was not a big deal as we were going to have built in bookcases on either side of the fireplace. Now we’ve decided not to do built ins, but put a nice tall window on each side. There is 5 ft available on each side of the fireplace . If we do windows, the fireplace will protrude about 18” from the wall. Will this look funny? Is it a no no? Room will have cathedral ceiling . 11ft at peak. Maybe beams. Thank you. I can’t seem to find any pictures, which concerns me lol. Installing the fireplace outside the wall is not an option.

No, it will not look funny, especially if you finish the fireplace all the way to the peak. Houzz has tons of example pics.

You can also do low cabinets on either side of the FP for some always needed storage then it will look great.

I think windows are a great idea. Agree with suggestion of benches or storage underneath. In the first photo that RES put up as an example I think that look would be improved by taking the indentations of the windows (or the protrusion of the fireplace) all the way to the ceiling.

Acute angle wedgies at a wall to ceiling intersection are difficult or impossible to trim and paint and will become a constant cobweb problem.

Thank you- a lot of the images I’m finding I can not tell how far the fireplace is protruding, especially if the the photo is taken straight on. The one from RES shows it really clearly. So hard for me to visualize it but this helps a lot. Great advice about preventing cobweb invasion!
